Overview

Yowlar's innate statistical bulk make it one of the most resilient Tems in the entire game. Its low speed is offset by its Comebacker trait, which amplifies its hard-hitting physical attacks if the target has hit it this turn. It can boost its own Attack stat with Show Off, forcing its opponent to address it and allowing it to take full advantage of its sturdiness and Comebacker.

Description

(1.3 DUKE'S NOTES - THIS TRAIT IS STILLL PRETTY IDEAL FOR BUILDING AN UNKILLABLE MONSTROSITY, BUT NOWADAYS BE SUPER CAREFUL FOR MISOGI AND RESET)

Warm-Blooded Yowlar is a much more popular trait after the 0.9.3 buff that changed its interaction with Freeze, allowing Yowlar to not only completely stymie freeze teams, but also avoid losing any turn tempo to regaining HP and Stamina with Hibernate.

This change turns Yowlar from an already impressive tank to an unkillable monstrosity when paired with Nutrition Bar, easily able to take over 150% of its own health in damage over the course of a match. When paired with any defensive buffs, Yowlar can quickly put the game out of reach for an unprepared opponent.

Clinch is a fairly stamina-efficient attack for lategame, and Savage Suplex is the hammer with which Yowlar crunches holes into the opposing lineup. I shouldn't have to explain why Hibernate is required. Toughen helps make Yowlar unkillable.

Yowlar and Kinu have been the best of friends since we could scale the Kilima Peaks, and this version is no exception. Yowlar is also a decent partner with other supports, like Pigepic and Shuine.

Description

(1.3 DUKE'S NOTES - YOWLAR CAN WEIRDLY FUNCTION AS A STALLBREAKER NOW THANKS TO MISOGI? WHO SAW THAT COMING. PLAY THIS WITH TRAP INDUCERS AND YOU'RE GOLDEN)

Comebacker accompanies Late Torment, Clinch, and Savage Suplex to become a powerful physical hitter.

With there now being four different ways to get access to turn 1 trapped, Late Torment Yowlar is a good addition to those specific teams, and Comebacker can really amplify the damage, here. Clinch and Show Off give Yowlar a good mix of things to try on turn 1, if LT isn't avaliable. Savage Suplex rounds out the fearsome neutral damage that Yowlar can deal, especially boosted by Show Off and Comebacker. Bait really helps Yowlar's stamina and status issues.

Akranox, Anatan, Mouflank, and Handcuffs users like Myx, Vulffy, and Barnshe all work well with Late Torment Yowlar. Also, being able to clear out physical walls and mentals help the tem a lot. Purgation users also work quite well.
